The Role

This individual will play an active management and hands-on role in all aspects of the systems development lifecycle and will focus their efforts on leadership and development of business and technical requirements for Regent’s product development teams. This position will work closely with the product management, development, delivery and support teams, ensuring that requirements are clearly documented and communicated.  The ideal candidate for this role will have been a manager within a fast moving development team working on complex, high transaction enterprise systems.


The Managing Director of Business Analysis will be responsible for the implementation of an assigned epic/new feature including:

  • Managing and prioritizing workload of the team
  • Lead the execution strategy for internal and external facing user documentation
  • Participate and conduct in management meetings reporting on departmental metrics to ensure efficiencies
  • Organizing meetings with the appropriate stakeholders at each stage of the SDLC
  • Requirements Analysis
  • Conducting design sessions with product development
  • Business and technical requirements documentation.


  • Lead and manage a team of BAs and responsible for creating project work breakdown structures, plan resource utilization and tenaciously track all work items encompassing the whole team; this requires diligent triaging of ticket queues, keeping on top of email chains and constant communications with team members.
  • Coach and mentor team members in the disciplines and work methods required to comply to agreed methodologies and processes and ensure quality of all analysis work performed by the Business Analysis team.
  • Be instrumental in the prioritization of business initiatives, projects or otherwise, and facilitate the resolution of conflicting business priorities
  • Elicit business requirements using document analysis, JAD sessions, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
    • Interact with subject matter experts and client teams to understand and analyze requirements.
    • Collaborate with product management and the development team to establish the product vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
    • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Work with development leads to design solutions and document technical requirements.
  • Develop business and technical requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
  • Interact with development during implementation to clarify requirements
  • Interact with QA to support in the development of test cases
    • Assist with the development of test cases and system testing as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements in the financial aid industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, developers and other subject matter experts.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Work experience as leading a team developing enterprise software systems
  • 8-10+ years as a business or systems analyst for a software company
  • Experience writing detailed business and technical requirements, wireframes/screen mockups, and process flows
  • Strong ability to analyze data, business processes, and provide empirical-based solutions and recommendations
  • Experience in working in an Agile environment
  • Background working with complex business systems and integration projects.
  • In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to varying audiences
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously, and work in an environment with constant change


Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Financial Aid industry and Financial Aid software a big plus
  • Ability to perform data analysis using SQL a plus
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence) or comparable Agile suite
  • PMP or CBAP certification a plus
